Lower School / Fairmount / K to 5

Opened in the fall of 2015, The City School at Fairmount, became our second elementary campus, serving grades Pre-K(4)-1. In  the academic year 2019-20,  we expanded to a Pre-K(4) through 5 elementary school with a capacity of 142 students.

After merging with the Spruce Hill Campus, the lower school at Fairmount is now a K-5 elementary school. We are grateful to God for growth and look forward to more children flourishing at The City School.

Our curriculum is driven by a pursuit of excellence and grounded in a commitment to love and care for each student as an individual. As with our Spruce Hill elementary campus, we like to envision our Fairmount campus as a “college-preparatory elementary school.”Beginning with our youngest children, students are taught to love their lifelong pursuit of learning. Elementary students are creative, curious and inquisitive: we embrace their natural love for knowledge and help them understand learning in the context of a well-rounded Christian education. We embrace the responsive classroom philosophy, which emphasizes creating a safe, joyful and challenging learning environment. Because students learn most effectively through social interaction, we believe the social curriculum is as important as the academic curriculum and thus incorporate morning meetings, positive teacher language and a positive approach to student discipline. Our strong academic program is complemented by an innovative emphasis on the arts, and every subject is seen as an opportunity to explore how God works in our world. Small class sizes and nurturing teachers ensure each child is given the one-on-one attention they need to discover their academic potential.

“Initially, in college I was studying psychology but after being an assistant teacher in Pre-k, I found my passion with teaching the littles. After taking a little time off to welcome my first child to the world, I was still very eager to be an educator and blessing to the City School babies. I then became the Lead Pre-k teacher and now currently I teach the 1st and 2nd grade split class. Outside of teaching, I love cooking, baking and pretty much anything else with the help of my little one. I also love doing anything active, self care days and shopping of course. LOL!”

School Counselor

I am a wife and Mom of 2. I have a passion and great love for counseling and helping people. Counseling brings me great joy. Seeing people/ students understand themselves and what they feel and expressing that is my goal. I came to TCS because I wanted to give my children a safe Christ centered environment and quality education. I am still at TCS because I haven’t been released by God. My worse fear is being outside of the will of God. I believe the Holy Spirit will lead and direct us where we should go.
